The Villisca Advent Christian Church welcomed their new pastor, Rev. Darren Brisco with his wife, Alice, and their son, Sean, to Villisca Sunday, May 30, 2010. The Brisco’s are most recently from North Dakota.

Rev. Brisco has spent most of his professional life as a minister of churches of varying sizes in the Seventh Day Adventist denomination. They began a journey of Bible study, spending months searching for answers in the scriptures. As Brisco noted in one of his early communications with the Villisca AC Church, “There was a lot of prayer asking for guidance from the Holy Spirit.”  After nearly two years of study Brisco wrote “"What we found was that the Advent Christian Church matched our new-found theology perfectly. We started attending the Garner AC Church in North Carolina. There we met pastor Joe Pritchett. He became our mentor in the faith.”

Most recently the Brisco’s have lived in North Dakota where family had a ranching operation and where they had expected to be a part of a business enterprise.  They moved to ND in part because they wanted to get out of the big city. Still in search of God’s will for their next step in life, they read of the opportunity to pastor the Villisca Advent Christian Church. After a time of prayer and then consultation with Joe Pritchard, they contacted Villisca and, the rest of the story is, here they are. We welcome the Briscos not only to the Advent Christian Church but to the Villisca community. Pastor Brisco tells us that he is excited about the Interchurch Council and the cooperation among our churches. They were quickly introduced to Interchurch through the VBS held the first week of June.
